Therapeutic Supervised Parenting Time

Supervision with clinical support.

Therapeutic supervised parenting time is provided by a licensed or appropriately qualified mental health professional and combines supervision with therapeutic support during parent-child contact.

This service may be appropriate for families experiencing disrupted parent-child relationships, significant conflict, trauma, prolonged separation, difficult transitions, or situations in which the parent and child need additional clinical support to rebuild a safe and healthy relationship.

The therapist may support communication, emotional regulation, developmentally appropriate parenting, attachment and connection, and help address difficulties that emerge during visits.

$120/hour

Therapeutic supervised parenting time is a clinical service and is different from neutral professional supervised parenting time. The appropriate service is determined based on the court order, referral, clinical needs, and initial screening.

This may be appropriate when

  • A parent and child have experienced significant disruption or extended limited contact
  • A child experiences anxiety, fear, or emotional distress related to parenting time
  • The family has experienced trauma or significant parental conflict
  • A parent needs clinical support to understand and respond to the child's needs
  • A court or involved professional recommends clinical support alongside supervision

The clinician may support

  • Communication, emotional regulation, and appropriate boundaries
  • Developmentally appropriate parenting strategies
  • Attachment, connection, and repair after difficult interactions
  • The parent's ability to respond to the child's verbal and nonverbal cues
  • Redirecting conversations that place a child in the middle of adult conflict
  • Parenting guidance and feedback over time

How it works

01

Initial inquiry

Contact us to share basic information about your family's situation and the type of supervision being requested or ordered.

02

Intake & screening

Each parent completes a separate intake and safety screening. We review court orders, parenting plans, and relevant background information.

03

Service agreement

We establish program guidelines, visit rules, scheduling, and documentation procedures. Both parents receive and sign the applicable service agreement.

04

Supervised visits begin

Visits are scheduled based on the court order or parenting agreement. Each visit is documented and records are maintained throughout the service.

Who we serve

We work with families referred by family courts, Child and Family Investigators (CFIs), Parenting Responsibilities Evaluators (PREs), Children's Legal Representatives (CLRs), attorneys, therapists, and other involved professionals. Families may also request services voluntarily.

Court-ordered supervision

Families with a court order specifying supervised parenting time or therapeutic supervision.

Professional referrals

Families referred by a CFI, PRE, CLR, therapist, attorney, or other involved professional.

Voluntary arrangements

Families who choose supervised parenting time by mutual agreement, without a court order.

These services are separate from a Child and Family Investigation (CFI) or Parenting Responsibilities Evaluation (PRE) and do not determine custody or parenting-time arrangements. Our role is neutral and child-centered — we do not advocate for either parent. When requested, professional services such as written reports, collateral communication, depositions, or court testimony may be available for an additional fee.
